Voters in Ablekuma West Constituency rejected a truckload of food allegedly sent by incumbent MP Ursula Owusu-Ekuful.
The food packs, which were intended for party officials and Electoral Commission agents, were seen as an attempt to influence the election outcome, sparking widespread protests from voters.
A viral video capturing the scene has circulated widely online, showing voters chanting “We don’t want it!” as the truck was driven away under the watchful eyes of election officials and security personnel.
The incident has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some commending the voters for rejecting what they perceived as unethical, while others have urged restraint and a more measured approach to allegations of electoral malpractice.
This controversy follows a similar incident during the special voting exercise on December 2, where MP Lydia Seyram Alhassan was accused of handing out food and water to voters. She has since denied the claims, stating that the food packages were meant for her campaign team and journalists.
