The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly condemned the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for its alleged role in perpetrating violence and intimidation in the aftermath of the 2024 general elections.
In a statement signed by Justin Kodua Frimpong, General Secretary of the NPP, the party expressed its disappointment and concern over the NDC’s actions, which it described as “criminal and irresponsible.”

The NPP alleged that the NDC had sent thugs to district collation centers to coerce Electoral Commission officials into declaring parliamentary results in their favor. This, the party claimed, had occurred in several constituencies, including Dome-Kwabenya, Ablekuma North, and Okaikwei Central.
The party also accused the NDC of perpetrating violence and intimidation against its parliamentary candidates and supporters, including holding them at gunpoint and destroying their properties.
The NPP called on the Ghanaian public and the international community to condemn the NDC’s actions, which it said undermined the country’s democracy and threatened its peace and security.
“We are deeply worried about these happenings and particularly concerned about the inaction of the Ghana Police Service in most instances,” the party said. “We call on the Ghanaian public and all people of good conscience to condemn the NDC for these despicable acts of lawlessness.”
The NPP’s statement comes after the Electoral Commission declared the NDC’s presidential candidate, John Mahama, the winner of the 2024 presidential election. The NPP’s candidate, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, conceded defeat shortly after the election, but the party has since raised concerns about the conduct of the election and the NDC’s behavior in its aftermath.
