Alexander Afenyo-Markin, outgoing Majority Leader of Parliament, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of manipulating public opinion to portray the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government as a failure.
In an interview on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Afenyo-Markin stated,
“People were no longer looking for infrastructure or the important Free SHS policy that all parents were benefiting from. They were looking for bread and butter because the NDC had created the impression that the NPP government had failed them.”
He claims the NDC’s strategy shifted the electorate’s focus from transformative initiatives, such as the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, to immediate economic grievances.
He argued that the opposition’s narrative downplayed the NPP’s achievements, creating the impression that the government had failed Ghanaians.
Afenyo-Markin acknowledged the challenges faced by Ghanaians but urged the public to assess the broader context of governance and policy implementation.
He expressed optimism that Ghanaians will soon see through the NDC’s “hypocrisy and double standards” and recognize the NPP’s commitment to addressing the country’s challenges while prioritizing sustainable development.
This is not the first time Afenyo-Markin has accused the NDC of hypocrisy. In 2021, he criticized the NDC Minority for scandalizing the judiciary after a court ruling went against one of their Members.
