Unidentified youth, alleged to be supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), have attacked the head office of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in Accra.
The attack, which occurred on Monday morning, saw the thugs damaging a photo of President Akufo-Addo and other officials at the reception area.
According to a staff member who reported the incident to Joy News, the thugs arrived at the office complex demanding that they vacate the premises.
“The place has been besieged by thugs, and I don’t know where they are coming from. They are harassing everybody,” the staff member said.
The individual further claimed that every time there is a change in power, officers of NADMO are attacked for no reason.
“We came to the office this morning to work, and the whole place is besieged,” the staff member added.
The eyewitness stated that they had taken cover in one of the offices while making the report.
The individual explained that the thugs were demanding they vacate the office and hand over the keys to the facility.
“I had to go into hiding to call you; they have taken over the frontage of our office, and there are quite a number of them,” the staff member said.
Joy News’ Collins Frimpong, who later visited the NADMO head office, reports that a photo of Akufo-Addo and other officials was damaged by the youth in front of the reception area.
However, the youth could not gain full access to the main offices to cause further damage.
Some military personnel later arrived at the NADMO office to ensure law and order.
It is common in Ghana to find party supporters taking over public offices usually when there’s a change in government after a general election.
