The Electoral Commission of Ghana has declared the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Party NDC, John Dramani Mahama as the winner of the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections, despite delays in receiving results from nine constituencies.
Mahama secured 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55% of the total valid votes cast, while his main contender, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, garnered 4,657,304 votes, representing 41.61%.
The nine constituencies with outstanding results are:
– Awutu Senya East
– Nsawam Adoagyiri
– Akwatia
– Suhum
– Techiman South
– Dome-Kwabenya
– Ablekuma North
– Ahafo Ano North
– Damango
According to Jean Mensa, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana, even if all the votes from the nine constituencies (947,000 votes) were added to the candidate who placed second, it would not change the outcome of the election.

– Total valid votes: 11,191,422
– Rejected ballots: 239,109
– Total votes cast: 11,430,531
– Voter turnout percentage: 60.9% based on 267 constituencies

– GUM: Christian Kwabena Andrews – 16,461 (0.15%)
– LPG: Kofi Akpalo – 5,219 (0.09%)
– NDP: Mohammed Frimpong – 4,413 (0.04%)
– CPP: Nana Akosua Frimpomaa – 23,397 (0.21%)
– ACP: Hassa. Ayariga – 17,461 (0.16%)
– Independent Candidates:
– Kofi Koranteng: 3,320 (0.03%)
– George Twum-Barima-Adu: 3,091 (0.02)
– Nana Kwame Bediako: 84,478 (0.5%)
